In response to Chief Executive ‘s 2023 Policy Address, the Government will further promote countryside revitalisation by enhancing the eco-tourism experience in Mui Tsz Lam (MTL), Sha Tau Kok and improving its local infrastructure. It is considered necessary on the provision of water supply to facilitate the construction of a new public toilet to support revitalisation. The watermain connection point from Water Supplies Department is provided at Lai Chi Wo, which is 1.5km away from MTL. The long stagnant water might exist in the pipeline and may affect the water quality for direct drinking. This technical study will formulate at least two design options for feasible and cost-effective water supply proposals to support a new public toilet and the potential revitalisation of MTL village. The water supply includes but not limited to potable water, flushing wate and water supply to fire services systems. It will also advise on the feasible proposals for the improvement, modification or diversion of the existing water supply works installation. Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and smart water supply initiatives such as real-time monitoring and smart/ intelligent pressure management shall be explored. Possible schemes to minimize disturbance to normal operation during construction and operations stages of the future water supply system will be provided.
